Hi I'm Jess, and I would like to write a journal entry.
I'm out of it. So prepare yourselves. Both writing news and anime cosplay stuff lies ahead~
First of all,
is a really cool poetry/writing group if anyone wants to join. The writers on there are amazing and it's a great way to submit and get noticed. I've been meaning to post a journal about it for a while, so sorry guys that it took so long! ><
(also I think there's a contest going on for the next few days if you wanna participate in that~)
OTHER WRITING SHIZZLE BEFORE I MOVE ON
Right now I'm really interested in traditional fixed forms of poetry, mostly haikus and sonnets. I like the fact that when given the chance haikus can be used to say something really powerful in just a few simple words, although sometimes it's not always used that way (oftentimes people will choose to just focus on the fact that it's a syllable pattern rather than the chance to say something very meaningful and beautiful in a short and fixed way).
I've also very recently begun to study sonnets, and I'm hoping to experiment with writing some of my own pretty soon. That being said, has anyone read "Sonnet LXXI" by Sir Philip Sydney? It is one of the first ones I've read and it's really awesome.
OKAY ANIME NEWS TIME YAY
*complete journal turnover*
So today a went to a convention~ It was called Centuricon and it was really awesome. The convention was small and I was one of the only Hetalians left (the other three kids were merely acquaintances but I still played with them a little bit anyway xD) but it was really nice nonetheless. I also learned a little about Homestuck at an ask a character panel, and since most of the cosplayers there were my friends, I was able to ask each and every one of them (exceptdavewhoialreadyknew) to introduce themselves and the signs they represented and stuff like that.
The only bad thing was all the people staring at me during the horror stories of Hetalia fans who were out to get the Homestuckers (which I really do not like to be a part of), but that was over with once they realized that Out of Character Hungary was not a homicidal maniac.
Alright, so now that I've made myself look like a fangirl in the midst of a shipping war, .(*sigh*... I hate things like this)
By the time I left the convention I had a boomerang, a rainbow flag, a sugar high, frostbite, all seven books of Full Moon O Sagashite, plenty of new friends..
And now I find out that there is another anime convention next week...
So.. anyone going to Zenkaikon?
